6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners,

Congratulations to the mission community of Santo Toribio Romo on the 10th Anniversary of the Blessing of their church building! It seems like yesterday that we were in the process of converting a rather unsavory building into a house of worship. I am ever grateful to the Bishop for gifting this property to us as a part of both Our Catholic Appeal and the Alive in Christ Campaigns. It is also appropriate to also thank the members of the parish community who provided both the necessary funding for the renovation of the buildings into a mission campus and with “the work of human hands” assisted in what was a wonderful endeavor.

Most holy God, who made the priests Saint Toribio Romo, Christopher Magallanes and their companions faithful to Christ the King even to the point of martyrdom, grant us, through their intercession, that persevering in confession of the true faith, we may always hold fast to the commandments of your love.

I would like to congratulate Teresa Rivera who has been promoted from one of our Administrative Assistants to becoming the Coordinator for Hispanic Ministry in both our parish and at Santo Toribio. Teresa is a smiling familiar face in the parish and many have met her through her presence at the front desk of the parish office. I look forward to the many gifts that she will bring this wonderful part of our parish ministry!

On this second weekend of our annual Our Catholic Appeal, I would just like to remind us that our portion of diocesan stewardship amounts to $298,181 from Blessed Sacrament and $11,095 from Mission Santo Toribio Romo. In the past few years we have been able to “slide into” home plate by just maintaining what we have done in previous years, but this year I ask that we extend ourselves and dig a bit deeper so that we can insure our success in this important endeavor.

May the week ahead be filled with countless graces and blessings!

Father Bob
