As the days of Christmas come to an end on this Feast of the Lord’s Baptism, we now turn our attention to one of the first great spiritual exercises of our parish family for the new year, our annual 40 Hours Devotion. This devotion occurs in proximity to the Anniversary of the Dedication of our Church (January 15) and will begin this coming Thursday with a Solemn Mass and Eucharistic Procession beginning at 7:00pm. The 40 Hours will conclude on Saturday at Noon with another Eucharistic Procession and Solemn Benediction. Throughout the 40 Hours the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the Chapel for prayer and adoration. There will be special devotional services throughout the day and night time hours at 3,6, 9 and 12. I do hope and pray that many of you will participate in the Opening Mass and Closing Benediction and come and visit throughout the day and night on these special days!
7:00pm Thursday, January 17 Solemn Mass and Eucharistic Procession
5:00pm Friday, January 18 Mass and Communal Anointing of the Sick
12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 19 Eucharistic Procession and Solemn Benediction
We pray that the hearts our all in our parish family may be touched by the sacramental presence of the Lord Jesus:
Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of your suffering and death. May our worship of this Sacrament of your Body and Blood help us to experience the salvation you won for us and the peace of the Kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
May the week ahead be filled with countless graces and blessings!
