As we bring a very special week to its conclusion, I wish you all a happy anniversary of the dedication of our Church! As we have been renewed by 40 Hours of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we look forward to how this new Spirit may deepen our lives of faith!
From our humble beginnings in 1910 where Mass was celebrated in homes of the Abberger and Pitt families, to the building of a first church building in 1933 on land generously donated by the Pool Family on Lake Street, and in 1961, with the construction of a larger church building on 12th Street, the mission of Blessed Sacrament was elevated to a parish! Of course, Clermont would continue to grow and its Catholic population expand! In 2002 our present Church building was dedicated!
O God, who year by year renew for us the day when this, your holy temple, was consecrated, hear the prayers of your people and grant that in this place for you there may always be pure worship, and for us the fullness of redemption.
The past 16 years have not been without growth and challenges, each which have made us stronger and more vibrant in our expressions of faith. One sees the work of the Holy Spirit in our ministry programs to the youth, the sick and the needy, as Blessed Sacrament has intrinsically linked Outward Sign, Backpacks for Children, and Our Lady of the Sick in Kaambaala, Uganda! We serve those both within and beyond our parish boundaries! Such is the love of Christ!
I thank those who worked so hard to prepare and lead us through our first annual 40 Hours Devotion, among them Bryan Hayes and Matt Cremisio whose tireless dedication enabled us to pray so well! Thank you all for your participation in the life of our parish. As a wise Bishop once said, “The Church is beautiful! And the building is very nice too!”
