The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Dear Parishioners, Each year, on the second Sunday following the Solemnity of Pentecost, the Church pauses to reflect upon the gift of the Holy Communion. On this Sunday, known more frequently by its Latin name of Corpus Christi, I can’t help but be reminded of some words of the theologian John Kavanaugh:

Each year, on the second Sunday following the Solemnity of Pentecost, the Church pauses to reflect upon the gift of the Holy Communion. On this Sunday, known more frequently by its Latin name of Corpus Christi, I can’t help but be reminded of some words of the theologian John Kavanaugh: In the sacrament of Christ’s redemptive sacrifice, we also celebrate and consecrate our own gifts. We identify our lives, our labors, our passions and our joys with the body, blood,

In the sacrament of Christ’s redemptive sacrifice, we also celebrate and consecrate our own gifts. We identify our lives, our labors, our passions and our joys with the body, blood, history and person of Jesus. It is an attempt to reconcile our choice of loving and life-giving service, as we reproduce in ourselves not only the manner of Jesus’ death and resurrection, but also the very substance of Jesus’ reality as food (and drink) for his brothers and sisters.Holy Communion, the fruit of the Eucharist which we celebrate, establishes

Holy Communion, the fruit of the Eucharist which we celebrate, establishes relationship, defines mission, and expresses Paschal hope. It nourishes us to the Kingdom, guides our way, and is the medicine of immortality!

And so Father most holy, look with favor upon the offering of your Church in which we show forth the Paschal Sacrifice of Christ that has been handed on (entrusted) to us, and grant that, by the power of your Spirit of your love, we may be counted now and until the day of eternity among the members of your Son, in whose body and blood we have communion.

Daily Masses and other liturgical services will continue to be held this week in the old church (St. John Bosco Hall) to facilitate the completion of the sanctuary and A/V improvements in the Church.

May the week ahead be filled with many blessings!
