Today we observe the 14th Anniversary of the Dedication of our new Church Building and 84 years as a community of faith! For what had been on Christmas Day 1933 a union of 50 families, now there is a union of over 4600 families!
At times it is very interesting to read through the “4 official books” of the parish which tell a story of the journey of this people of faith in South Lake County. Reading through these books tells us who was baptized, who received First Communion, who was Confirmed, and who was commended to the Lord upon their passing from this world to the Lord. Of course, they are Books which contain the names (and dates) of these significant events in the lives of these individual people, but also it is the record of the growth and progress of THIS PEOPLE which is Blessed Sacrament!
Such is the mystery of the Church… A place to worship God in Spirit and truth and a place where day by day, through the celebration of the Sacraments, the gift of salvation becomes more clearly seen:
O God, who year by year renew for us the day when this, your holy temple, was consecrated, hear the prayers of your people and grant that in this place for you there may always be pure worship, and for us the fullness of redemption.
We are beginning the annual diocesan Our Catholic Appeal earlier than usual to accommodate our parish Project HOPE campaign. This year, Bishop Noonan has asked our parish to provide $278,146 of support through OCA. This is a $9,905 increase from last year’s assessment. In addition, the Bishop has asked our mission to provide $12,301 of support which is a $5,970 decrease from last year’s assessment! I am hopeful that we will able to accomplish this annual appeal quickly so that we may move into the work of providing more directly to our parish expansion programs!
May the week ahead be filled with many blessings!
