Tender and familiar words from Saint Paul (1 Cor 12:31-13:13) accompany our celebration of the Liturgy on this day. Most often proclaimed at wedding celebrations, the challenging dimension of loving relationships calls all to faithfulness, patience, humility and placing the interest of “the other” before that of self. Love demands a maturity.
Congratulations to those of our parish and mission who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at the 5:00pm Mass today. We welcome Bishop Noonan who will be present to celebrate the Eucharist to anoint them with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I thank those who have participated in the “Baby Bottle” project of collecting this weeks “spare change” which has been sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The proceeds of this project are gifted to the JMJ Pregnancy Center. I am very grateful to the Knights and the women of the BSCCW (who sponsor October’s Baby Shower) for providing holy and positive witnesses to our support of the gift of human life. Remembering that human life is sacred from the moment of conception until natural death, we pray:
God our Creator, we give thanks to you, who alone have the power to impart the breath of life as you form each of us in our mother’s womb; grant we pray, that we, whom you have made stewards of creation, may remain faithful in this sacred trust and constant in safeguarding the dignity of all human life.
May the week ahead be filled with countless graces and blessings!
