It is such a pleasure to welcome Father Ponce back home to Clermont this weekend! No doubt this grateful parish is happy to have you here with us!
There is a certain irony that the Gospel this weekend (Mark 6:7-13) tells of the story of the 12 being sent on a journey and being told to take very little with them, relying solely on the hospitality of those they serve and on God’s grace for what is necessary for their ministry. God’s mighty power is revealed through those who rely upon him!
One of my favorite prayers, attributed to Saint Teresa of Avila, so aptly fits with this Gospel passage:
Christ has no body now, but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth, but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks
With compassion on this world.
Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing frighten you.
All things pass away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Those who have God
Find they lack nothing;
God alone is sufficient.
May the week ahead be filled with countless graces and blessings!
